Ruben Felix - Baseball Coach and Scout
Ruben Felix is an accomplished baseball coach and scout with a storied career spanning multiple levels of the sport, both in the United States and internationally. A 10-time USA Baseball Scout/Coach, he has made a significant impact in shaping the future of young athletes and advancing the sport at a high level.
USA BASEBALL ACHIEVMENTS:
Currently, Ruben serves as the Head Coach for USA Baseball’s National Team Identification Series (NTIS) 16u, 15u, 14u, and 13u tournaments, demonstrating his expertise in coaching top-level youth talent.
Felix's leadership extended to the USA Baseball National Team, where he led the WNT to a silver medal in the 2012 World Cup. He also played a key role in the 2011 USA Baseball Friendship Series and the 2010 14u National Team that earned a bronze medal.
He has served as an assistant coach for USA Baseball's National Team at various prestigious events, including the MLB World Baseball Classic in 2009 and the 16u National Team trials, which secured a gold medal in 2007.
PROFESSIONAL COACHING EXPERIENCE:
Ruben Felix’s career in professional baseball includes roles in both Major League Baseball (MLB) and Minor League Baseball. He served as an assistant coach for the Baltimore Orioles in 2008 and 2009 and was part of the Team USA coaching staff during the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
With the Cleveland Indians, Felix worked as an assistant coach for several years, contributing to the team's success from 2004 to 2006.
In the Minor Leagues, Felix made his mark as the Assistant Coach for the AAA Culiacán Tomateros in the Mexican Pacific Winter League in 2007-2008, helping lead the team to victory.
COLLEGE AND INDEPENDENT BASEBALL:
Felix has had extensive experience in NCAA and NJCAA baseball, having served as the head coach and assistant coach at various institutions. Notably, he was the head coach of the Florida Collegiate Baseball League's Winter Gardens Squeeze in 2014 and was an assistant coach for the Galveston Junior College baseball program from 2001 to 2004.
He also contributed to the success of several teams in the Texas Collegiate League and Cal Ripken League, including the Bethesda Big Train.
PLAYER CAREER:
Felix’s playing career includes stints in the Minor Leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers, where he played for the Stockton Ports and Beloit Snappers. He also competed in the Texas/Louisiana League with teams like the Lubbock Crickets and the Corpus Christi Barracudas.
Internationally, Felix played in the Mexican Pacific Coast Winter League for teams such as Los Mochis and Navojoa Mayos, further expanding his knowledge of the game.
Throughout his career, Ruben Felix has earned a reputation as a dedicated mentor to players of all ages and skill levels. His wealth of experience—from youth baseball development to coaching at the highest professional levels—has shaped his unique coaching style, making him a valued asset in the baseball community & THE Seguin River Monsters!
